DAY 2 | SUNDAY | MONTEFIORE CASTLE
Walk through charming chestnut forest with the “Rocca di Montefiore” in the background and its past as a border area between the territory of the lordship of the Montefeltro and that of the Malatesta. A suggestive hike on the first hills of our territory where the scent of popular and religious traditions is mixed.
9KM | 5.6MI 269M |882FT
DAY 3 | MONDAY | STRADA DEL VINO AND FRONTALI FOOD AND WINE EXPERIENCE
Typical walk with the taste of our land, Romagna. A valley full of peasant flavors, with vineyards, olive trees and cultivations of our local herbs. A panorama that opens from San Marino to Rimini, from Montefiore to the hill of San Bartolo, through the theatre of tragic battles of the Gothic Line during World War II. Today's tour will finish with a delicious open-air lunch and wine tasting in a charming olive tree farm on top of hill close to Riccione.
8KM | 5MI 230M | 754FT
DAY 4 | TUESDAY | MONTE CASTELLARO ( SAN BARTOLO NATIONAL PARK)
A walk that mixes the scents of the land with the flavors of the sea and its legends, from the crucifix of Casteldimezzo, to the poetic verses of Dante in Fiorenzuola, immersed on Mount San Bartolo up to the cross overlooking the sea.
8KM | 5M 248M | 814FT
DAY 5 | WEDNESDAY | TRANSFER TO THE DOLOMITES
We leave Adriatic seaside resort, par excellence, glamorous Riccione and looking to arrive to the most beautiful valley Val Badia in Dolomites in the early afternoon. After checking in our alpine hotel, and while having our welcome drink, we will talk about our plans for the next three days.
DAY 6 | THURSDAY | PRALONGIA & STÖRES PLATEAU
Between Corvara, La Villa and San Cassiano we can find the Pralongià and the Störes High Plateaus with stunning panoramic views on the Fanes Group (Conturines and Lavarella), the Puez Group (Sassongher and the mighty glacier of Marmolada). The green meadows are covered with lots of mountain flowers.
15KM | 9M 550M | 1850FT
DAY 7 | FRIDAY | ARMENTARA MEADOWS AND SANTA CROCE
Below the mighty rock face of Sasso di Santa Croce, a holy chapel can be found. It was built in 1484 and became the destination of many pilgrims over time and was therefore extended around 1650 in Rococo style, with frescoes and a bell tower. It served as an accommodation for the pilgrims and as a dwelling place for the sacristan. Today the building is a refuge that invites hikers to a delicious Kaiserschmarrn and other typical plates. The Armentara meadows are located on the Armentara Plateau, between 1600 meters and 2000 meters, on the western side of Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park.
15KM | 9M 550M | 1850FT
DAY 8 | SATURDAY | CARBONIN AND LUNCH AT MALGA MISURINA
Carbonin / Schluderbach is located in the Val di Landro valley at the junction of the road to Lake Misurina. We will follow the forest road which winds its way up in serpentines, with a wonderful view on Cristallo Mountain. The forest thins out and we reach the first meadows. While Croda Rossa d'Ampezzo Mountain can be seen in the west, the Vallandro Mountain Hut / Dürrensteinhütte and the Prato Piazza Barrier, a fortress of the Austro-Hungarian Army from the late 19th century, are already in front of us. We have now crossed the 2,000-metre line and reached the blooming alpine meadow landscape framed by the Dolomite peaks.
12KM | 7.5M 690M |2264FT
DAY 9 | SUNDAY | TRANSFER TO BORMIO
We leave the mountains of The Dolomites and travel to our final destination in the Italian Alps. En route, we will make a quick stop for lunch at the historic Forst Brewery, before arriving in the afternoon to our alpine base in Bormio, at the footsteps of the legendary Stelvio. You are living your dream!
DAY 10 | MONDAY | TOP OF MONTE SCALE AND CANCANO LAKES
The Monte delle Scale, with 2500 meters of altitude, is one of the most panoramic peaks of the Alta Valtellina. From the towers of Fraele starts a beautiful mule track, created in the years of the First World War, which in the span of 2h leads up to the summit of the mountain passing along some landslide ridges and spires that are very reminiscent of the Dolomite environments. At an altitude of 2200 the forest gives way to an exposed rocky ridge. The view towards the valley of Bormio is beautiful, from this we can also glimpse in the distance the Stelvio pass and some valleys and mountains around. If we are lucky from the summit it is also possible to admire the flight of some eagles.
6KM | 3.7M 580M | 1860FT
DAY 11 | TUESDAY | MONTE SCORLUZZO
At 3095 meters, the monte Scorluzzo dominates the Stelvio Pass, the highest in Europe. The round route to Filon del Mot, starting from the Stelvio Pass, is a decidedly satisfying hike in which the infinite high mountain landscapes and still present signs of the Great War blend in perfect harmony. Precisely on this itinerary, in fact, it is possible to comfortably climb a peak of 3094 meters and at the same time walk on what were the first Austro-Hungarian and Italian lines just over a hundred years ago. Once you reach Passo delle Platigliole, walk along the path that climbs towards the top of Monte Scorluzzo. In this part of the route, a grandiose landscape mixes with the remains of the war including: trenches, dry stone walls, wooden stairs, remains of barracks and barbed wire.
8.5KM | 5.3M 450M | 1440FT
DAY 12 | WEDNESDAY | VALLE REZZALO
Being a little-known valley, it is not frequented much even in the summer months, making the excursion very pleasant. Along the way, in the right season, it is not uncommon to meet roe deer, chamois and marmots. This valley, within the Stelvio National Park, connects Valtellina with the road that leads to Passo Gavia, crossing wild but fascinating places. The physical effort is repaid by the magnificent rhododendron flowering that colors the valley starting from June.
