• WHAT MAKES YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER TOUR COMPANIES?
Many companies offer cycling and hiking tours. Our tours are fully supported and guided, and based on our philosophy of La Dolce Vita Attiva. We pride ourselves on combing our love for cycling and hiking, the active life (la vita attiva); with our love for good food, good wine and good company - La Dolce Vita (The Sweet Life). Together, these two loves are at the heart of everything we do, and everything we offer you. Your holiday will be physically inspiring, culturally rich, and resplendent with the special flavours and aromas of Italy. Only with AndiAmoDai you will experience La Dolce Vita Attiva!
During your sportive adventures with AndiAmoDai you will experience the rich culture, cuisine and beauty of Italy- Il Bel Paese ( the beautiful country). Our planning and preparation takes the hassle out of touring. We choose the best hotels, the best places to eat, and the most beautiful spots to visit. We take care of all the logistics, such as: booking accommodations, researching cycling and hiking routes, moving luggage, organising lunches and snacks, and even having a mechanic available to fine-tune your bike. At AndiAmoDai we do everything, so that all you have to do is enjoy La Dolce Vita Attiva! We want this to be the most memorable cycling or hiking tour ever!

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN ON TOUR WITH YOU BEFORE?
We have many guests who would be happy to share their feedback with you, let us know which tour you are interested in and we will put you in touch with the right person.

SHOULD I BRING MY OWN BIKE OR HIRE A BIKE?
The decision to take your own bike or hire a bike for your trip will depend on your personal preferences and circumstances. You might be attached to your bike and love riding it, and so, you might prefer to bring it with you.
Or, perhaps you are traveling to the destination in your own transportation, and want to have complete control over your two-wheeled amico, including its maintenance and repairs. In that case, bringing your own bike might be preferable.
On the other hand, if you like to travel light, or are open to trying new bikes and want to explore different models or brands, renting a bike could be a fun and exciting option. Our bikes are high quality and in excellent condition. So, renting a bike could be a treat.
Consider factors such as convenience, cost, quality, and destination when making your decision. And please, let us know your chosen option at the time of booking your holiday.

HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?
Having a training plan or putting some extra miles under your legs will certainly maximise your chances of performing well so you can fully enjoy the challenges you have ahead. Just know, you can't be too fit!

Each of our tours has been given a level of difficulty. For cycling the levels are: Piano/Moderato/Veloce
Our difficulty page will help you determine the level of challenge you are looking for. We are committed to helping everyone succeed in achieving their cycling and hiking goals. While riding or hiking, your guides will be by your side, offering gentle encouragement and motivational tips every pedal/step along the way!
And, if you just are not able to get to the level of fitness you were hoping to, you can always consider hiring an E-bike. Sorry, there are no electric options for hiking trips!

CAN I BIKE ON SOME DAYS AND HIKE ON OTHERS, OR TAKE A REST DAY IF I WANT TO?
You book your trip as a cyclist or as a hiker, and we build our logistical support around those specific bookings. It may be possible for cyclists to leave their bike and join the hikers on a given day. But, it is not simple for a hiker to spend a day on a bike, unless a rental bike is available at the location.
Where possible we will try to accommodate your desires and support you in having a variety of experiences. When possible, we will try to make sure you have a place in a transport van or a hired bike at short notice to use. And on days when you don't feel like exercising, we will happily suggest an alternative activity.

DO I HAVE THE RIGHT KIT?

What to wear will vary depending on whether you will be riding or walking in spring/autumn or summer, and if you are in mountain or on the warmer , coastal parts of our Italy, il Bel Paese.

Generally, in the mountains you will need all your winter gear even in the middle of June. The weather changes quickly, and there are often summer storms. But we will keep your extra clothing dry in the van! On longer riding days, you might also want a second water bottle and some of your preferred energy snacks to help you stay hydrated and energised.

For hikers, apart from appropriate footwear, you will need a backpack with rain jacket, an extra pair of socks and gloves, and a warm vest or sweater. You might also consider bringing along an additional water bottle, and some of your favourite energy bars. Remember, we will provide you with a light snack.

If your plan is to explore central or coastal italy during the summer, a light rain or wind jacket should be enough daily for both cycling and hiking excursions. But, since it will be warmer, you will definitely need and extra water bottle.

To summarise, it is always wise to check your favourite weather forecast app when doing your final packing. But be prepared for inclement weather conditions.

And remember, the support vehicle will carry cyclist's extra kit, water, food and essential spares for the bikes. Hikers, you will need to be more self-sufficient, carrying what you will need for the day.

WHAT ARE THE CYCLING RULES IN ITALY?

The most important rule is to make sure you are riding safely! This means staying focused on the road, not obstructing other riders and always being aware of your surroundings.

In Italy cyclists are considered vehicles and must follow the same traffic rules as cars. This means riding on the right-hand side of the road and stopping for red traffic lights.

At AndiAmoDai we always ask our guests to ride in single file or, if in a quieter areas, side by side. It's important to always be aware of traffic behind and let cars pass, especially while climbing. Road surfaces in some areas are not ideal. But it is safer to take some shallow potholes than to risk sudden swings into the middle of the road. Where possible try to ride in a straight line and avoid sharp movements. When riding in heavy traffic, do not overtake a fellow rider.

Enjoy the scenery and take time to stop and take photos, just make sure you are safely off the road and not blocking traffic before you do so.

Helmets are compulsory. Lights, or high visibility clothing are required 30 min before sunset, or 30 min before sunrise. Lights are also required during the day in tunnels and in the event of fog, falling snow, heavy rain or in any other case of poor visibility.

Your guide will signal turns, obstacles and upcoming stops or times to slow down. If it's safe, it is a good practice to pass it on to the other riders behind you.

Italians are known for their friendly and welcoming culture, so just smile or greet other riders with a wave.

I HAVE NEVER CYCLED OR HIKED IN AN ORGANISED GROUP. WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

At AndiamoDai we strive to create a positive and enjoyable experience for all our guests, while at the same time, always prioritising safety. Riding or hiking with a group can be a daunting experience, especially for a beginner or a solo adventurer. By following these guidelines, you'll contribute to a harmonious and efficient ride for your fellow riders and hikers

    •  First, enjoy and share your positive feelings with your companions. Be mindful of group dynamics: Pay attention to the group's pace and skill level. Adjust your pace accordingly to accommodate the abilities of others. Be patient and supportive, especially with less experienced riders or hikers.
    • Make sure people around you have the space they need to navigate and negotiate the road or terrain. Use efficient communication to alert others of your intentions, especially when in a tight group.
    • In general, we ride or hike as one group on the flats and the gentle inclines. As soon as we begin a steep ascent, you can do it at your own speed and pace. As a rule of thumb we always regroup before descending, and at any crossroads or major turns in the road or path.
    • Your guide may be leading your group at the front or follow you at the back making sure no one is left behind. The guides will be your first point of contact and your main source of information regarding logistics about the day’s tour. The guides will explain the itinerary, safety procedures and any specific rules or regulations.

    HOW DO I PAY LOCALS?
During your daily activities we usually make a coffee break or planned lunch at local bars or refugio huts on mountain passes. Common practice would be to order your food and drink either at the bar or at the table and enjoy your break. When you are done, you will pay your bill at the bar's till. Italians appreciate cash payments, especially for smaller purchases.

In Italy, it is not obligatory to leave a tip at a restaurant or bar. However, it is common practice to round up the bill or leave a small amount of change as a gesture of appreciation for good service. This is often referred to as "il resto" (the change).

At your hotel tipping is discretionary and is based on your satisfaction with the service provided. All extras you have during your stay will be added to your final bill at the check-out.

WHAT LEVEL OF SUPPORT DO YOU OFFER?

Our Tours are fully organised and serviced. You will have friendly, expert guide and vehicle support the entire time. The guides on tour are at your service from early morning till late at night. During this time we will fix punctures, transfer your luggage, give you an encouraging word or helpful push, share bike skills and local knowledge, organise a Spa day or sunset aperitivo, the list goes on …. Ask us and we will always do our best to meet your needs and make your tour extra-special.
